Pin dish in Bucks Point 11k
Bucks Point is a Point Ground lace, distinguished by the net-like background pattern that gives balance to the more intricate and busier parts of the lace. The grid for Bucks Point can be at any angle between 52 and 70 degrees from the vertical and forms the basis for the hexagons of the point ground. A more delicate lace than Torchon, it is suited to the finer threads.
Gimps (thicker threads) are used to outline parts of the design and the outer edges are frequently decorated with picots, small loops of thread.
On the following pages there are three examples of motifs done in Bucks Point, the first hexagon , an oval 'floral' motif and a second hexagon. You can see the most common elements of Bucks Point in a close-up of the second hexagonal motif.
